movies, shows, youtube series, whatever.
I started watching the Hostel series and. Hm. The first one is very not good. Absolute slog of a movie to get through. In contrast though the second one was very fun so I'm hoping the third one is also pretty alright whenever I get around to it. Love it when a movie is so so sloppy wet messy etc.
How about you guys? In the middle of anything good?

in terms of horror stuff, i watched cadaver earlier today and paradise hills a couple days ago! personally i thought both movies were pretty but overly predictable to the point where it took me out of the story, with cadaver especially. it seems like a movie where it's going to go deeper and explore this core idea more than it actually does. for paradise hills, its really polished YA book tone and BUCK wild twist mean i kinda can't be mad at it even though it was really stupid overall.
for all the problems i have with both movies they don't hold a CANDLE in terms of 'wasting my fucking time' to annabelle which i watched with my fiance for the first time the other night. hard to describe just how pissed i was about the dumb doll's lore being satanic cult ritual of all things, plus the absolutely tasteless racist ending -___-

i once watched all the hostels back to back and havn't watched them again since, only because im sure i could recreate the movie frame for frame from just the juice of my mind, omg i think people act like theyre super extreme they get added to peoples extreme list but its like, theyre just kind of movies you'd put on in the background of a (horror/halloween) party or like something you'd show that would like shock someone who doesn't really watch splattergore or horror at large, but at least they seem to know that and lean into it a lot hgfhfg
literally, ive been basically watching the same movies as jonah after he watches it hgfhfgh yeah they were both visually interesting!! and predictable to a fault but i will say paradise hill goes places that while like oh yeah you know whats going on is like unexpected for what it presents itself as, i think i enjoyed paradise hill more than jonah did ghfdhfg like the aesthetic and content matter and even the stupid ya premise really did it for me
like annabelle has just No redeeming qualities unlike the other garbo movies that come from this crew gfgdf
i have like an hour left of 5zer02, which is like, assuming people dont know what this is, is a slenderverse series! something id consider a major player in like the first ring out from the slenderverse core, but closer to the second ring (tree rating) like im into it so far like, i am close to finishing it, its watchable like it goes down pretty smooth and does a few things i find interesting, you can see why it didnt take off but also like the way its did stuff a little fresh

I started the Evil Dead series because I love schlock and everything I've read has been like, this is tongue-in-cheek and gory and silly but also harrowing, and that's my jam, some of my favorites are Re-Animator and Phantasm and The People Under The Stairs, stuff like that, but I'll be honest I was really disappointed by the first one. I think if I had been in a different mood it might have hit different, or if I had been in a big theater with a pumped up (drunk) crowd, but I'm hoping it settles into itself?

I just watched an LP of Iron Lung which is just a FANTASTIC piece of claustrophobic ocean horror that I def would've been too spooked to play on my own.
But beyond that I'm gonna finally buckle down and start a rewatch/finally finish watching EverymanHYBRID, and I'm hoping to watch all of the 2h32 series with friends next week, another series I never bothered to finish.

I rewatched Jaws last night which (as per my other thread) is in a category where you could define it as horror or you could not and that would be fair either way. What I really noticed though was how often the closed captions referred to the score as "jubilant" or other related words. If it had a less upbeat score and more of the tense music (the part of the score that everyone remembers) it seems pretty likely to me that it would be considered unambiguously horror. Amazing how music can change the tone.

omg i checked out the bearcat premium its like 5 dollars a month which was surprising! i figured it would be like per room and more, idk if youd want to give your info to that site tho, it is tempting like we'd get soooo much mileage out of it, but we could also do it like, screen share free if we did like a slenderman marathon server or something via discord
jaws i think fits soundly under like Big Animal Horror, there must be an actual name for it but that was all the Rage like with jaws, there's soooo many big spiders, big snakes, big wasps, etc, like creature feature but its critter, creepy crawly , there hasnt been a lot of that recently (though delighted to know that something proceduralbob watched a bit ago had a big fuck off wasp) quick buck flip horror is so fantastical serial killer anymore
imagine remastering some of these older movies with less like power glam genre music
omg i know it hibernates and starts back up! it might have wrapped omg but! either way youll be able to report back on its status! my two point five second search didnt yield like a fandom wiki or anything but omg like 2h32 is like, that one with a ringmaster kind of guy and each one is like a little tabloid of monsters?
