General rules:
Each thread should contain one continuous story, whether it’s an anthology with the same principal characters or setting, etc., or a traditional narrative of more than one part. New arcs of longer serials may start a new thread, but be sure to reference back to earlier entries in the story for new readers!
Serial stories may be as long or in as many parts as you like, but please make sure each entry is long enough not to be considered low effort spam.
Do not bump your thread unless you’re meaningfully adding something, whether that’s OOC responses or further installments. Excess bumping may get your thread temporarily locked.
Please include a brief summary within the first post of your story, using the form found below.
Content warnings are required at the top of your story. You must give warnings for depictions of: sex, suicide, physical/ psychological abuse, and sexual violence. You may give optional warnings for other potentially upsetting content, at your discretion.
Again, no plagiarism! If we google your story and find someone else wrote it who obviously wasn’t you, or someone reports you for plagiarizing, the thread will be locked pending deletion and you may be banned.
However, you may repost or crosspost stories you have personally written elsewhere! In fact, we encourage you to do so!
Content rules:
Stories must be fundamentally horror in nature. However, we place no restrictions on the type of horror you can choose to represent! You can write thrillers, horror comedy, scifi horror, 2nd world fantasy horror, erotic horror, as long as the story contains elements of horror, it’s allowed here.
The one exception: no fanfiction. Fanfiction is any writing that uses material like characters, settings, and plots currently held under copyright, OR fiction about currently living celebrities. Feel free to write stories inspired by copyrighted properties and current events, but this is not the place to post straight up fanfiction.
Stories can be from 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person perspective. Your main character can be any human, animal, alien, monster, god, or any other being living or dead. If you have an idea you love, we want to support you writing it.
Responses to stories do not need to be in-game, but some creators may prefer only OOC or IC responses. If you have a preference, indicate it with [IC] or [OOC] in your thread title.
We accept some extreme content in the VAULT as long as it is tagged appropriately, but use your head when writing depictions of sexual violence, pedophilia, bigotry, and so on. If your story glorifies these things, your thread may be locked pending deletion.
Please limit the use of slurs. Foul language and insults are acceptable, but when possible slurs should be censored in some way.
